Sneak Peek of Baisakhi celebrations from The Gurudwara Singh Sabha of Washington

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguruji Ki Fateh! TV Asia brings to you an exclusive coverage of Baisakhi celebrations from The Gurudwara Singh Sabha of Washington in Renton. This was the fifth annual parade in celebration of Khalsa Day, a Sikh religious festival. The celebration was marked with a colorful procession that started at Gurdwara Singh Sabha of Washington, 5200 Talbot Road S. in Renton, and marched towards South 200th Street. There was free food available for attendees for two hours.

Event organizers expected thousands of participants and attendees and they welcomed all to this event hosted by the greater Seattle Sikh community. Also, about 30 local Sikhs were initiated into the Khalsa, similar to a baptism in other faiths. This ceremony is called the Amrit Sanchaar, and involves taking a vow to refrain from cutting hair, using drugs or alcohol, committing adultery or removing their kirpan, an article of the faith.
