TV Asia brings to you an exclusive coverage of the 2017 Vishu celebrations by BAMA (Bay Area Malayalee Association). Vishu is the Hindu new year festival celebrated in the Indian state of Kerala. The festival is marked by family time, preparing colorful auspicious items and viewing these as the first thing on the Vishu day. BAMA an organization started in 2004 aims to to spread cultural awareness among the south Indian Kerala community by conducting such events to celebrate the rich traditions of Kerala in San Francisco Bay area and neighboring cities.
Vishu was organized to preserve and promote the culture, heritage, and family values of Kerala among Malayalees and the younger generation, provide a forum for members to express and share their cultural talents and organize social services to needy in Bay Area, India, and around the world. BAMA donated food on this auspicious occasion to the TCV food bank in Fremont.
