Sneak peek of 'Praveshika'

Praveshika was an evening of Hindustani classical music held at Eastside Bahai Center, Seattle on Saturday, 5th August 2017. Pratidhwani and SIMA presented Kishan Patel, a very promising young and upcoming musician. Born and raised in Portland, OR, Kishan has been learning music since he was 6 years old. He has been trained by Portland’s Dr. Nisha Joshi, & is continuing to study with his Guru Shri Arijit Mahalanabis in a Gurukul system. 
 
Kishan has also had the fortune of training under Gurus Smt. Aditi Kaikini Upadhya, Shri Sachin Pimple, Vidwan Poovalur Srinivasan, and Dr. Lewis Norfleet. Apart from being an excellent singer, he is well versed in the art of accompaniment with Tabla and Harmonium. Kishan was accompanied by Akhil Jobanputra on harmonium and Suresh Ramaswamy on tabla. 
 
Pratidhwani regularly host Indian classical performers like vocalist Srivani Jade and sarod maestro Brandon Mcintosh. They have four artistic wings -  Classical Music, Light Music, Dance, and Drama. This is was one of similar fashioned event held with an evening full of devotion of Indian classical music.
