Sewa International - Chicago Chapter organized Garba for Sewa charity night event on 16th September 2017 at the Jain Center of Metropolitan Chicago in Bartlett. The Garba event is organized by Sewa every year and this year it was for a mission to raise funds for the Harvey floods disaster. All the proceeds from the fundraiser event were donated for the people affected due to the Harvey floods. Hurricane Harvey was an active tropical cyclone that caused unprecedent and catastrophic flooding in south-eastern Texas.
Sewa International is a Hindu faith-based, nonprofit service organization that specializes in undertaking disaster relief and rehabilitation programs. Sewa International is aiming to provide survivors with emergency supplies like food, water, shelter and medicine, along with assistance in the long run to help flood-affected Texans recover and rebuild their property. Sewa managed to collect $25,00,00 already and the aim to donate up-to $1 million for the disaster relief.
