Consulate General of India in collaboration with The American Academy of Indian Classical Music (AAICM), presented Indian Classical music of the Kirana Gharana by Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan and tabla virtuosi, Pandit Anindo Chatterjee in commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of India's Independence on Friday, September 15th, 2017 at the Consulate ballroom. Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan, a legendary vocalist of the music of Kirana Gharana, was the first artist to perform at Consulate General of India as a part of their new initiative called Art&Culture@Consulate.
For the concert, Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan presented north Indian classical music specifically of the Kirana Gharana which is his family lineage. He presented his soulful music to a full house and also presented his newly released music album. He delighted the audience with with various musical performances for which he has received many awards in the past. The program was attended by large number of members of the cultural community in New York City and Tri-State area.
